“First Communion of Anemic Young Girls In The Snow and other works” is an exhibition of selections from RICHARD (www.rdotmdot.wordpress.com). The title of this exhibition pays homage to Aphonse Allais’ 1883 satyrical drawing Première Communion de Jeunes Filles Chlorotiques par un Temps de Neige, one of the first ready-made artworks ever produced. The exhibition will open November 8th, 2013 at Interstate Projects, Brooklyn.
RICHARD is a constantly updated, online catalog of readymade images, objects and ideas created by various artist and contributors. RICHARD entries consist of as is or slightly altered images, objects, videos, sounds, software, files, texts etc., designated as readymade artwork by an expanding cast of contributors. Upon being included in RICHARD’s online catalog, entries are stripped of all indentifiers and provenance info, assigned a code number and a title/description written by the author to address the object and its new potential as readymade artwork. Entries are generally made available for use and reproduction with as few restrictions as possible.
“First Communion of Anemic Young Girls In The Snow and other works” is on view through December 15th, 2013.
