Saturday, January 24, the Contemporary Austin opens Tom Sachs: Boombox Retrospective 1999–2015, an exhibition of the artist’s playful sculptural adaptations and extensions on the boombox. In the Contemporary Austin’s Jones Center, Sachs presents a series of working ceramic boomboxes featuring curated playlists developed by pop icons and friends of the artist. These works are accompanied by a sculpture from the artist’s Hello Kitty series, an interactive bodega, and more. Outside, in the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria, Sachs presents bronze sculptures like Miffy Fountain. Sachs has invited ceramicist and sculptor JJ PEET to exhibit concurrently in the Gatehouse Gallery at Laguna Gloria.

Tom Sachs and JJ PEET join senior curator Heather Pesanti for a discussion of the exhibition on Saturday, January 24, beginning at 1 pm.
