Friday, October 24, Gallery 16 opens an exhibition of new work by New York-based artist Reed Anderson. Anderson presents two series, including over 40 large-scale works total. The artist’s intricately cut and collaged paintings comprise one body of work; also on view are paintings from his “Papa Object” series, works in which Anderson incorporates photographic images of objects from auction catalogs. These objects, rejuvenated by Anderson’s application of paint and collage, are then mailed to particular places to be photographed; destinations include a Chinese sweatshop, a research vessel in Antarctica, and an office cubicle at MOMA.

The opening reception takes place Friday, October 24, from 6 – 9 pm.
