November 1, Almost Nothing Hardly Anything, a solo exhibition by Rafaël Rozendaal, opens at Steve Turner Contemporary. Rozendaal presents a series of lenticular paintings, as well as an interactive projection, through which visitors can access Rozendaal’s many websites. The paintings on view have the approximate physical structure and finish as digital screens, and the lenticular transition reminds of the particular visual experiences of digital viewing. A selection of Rozendaal’s websites, featuring mesmerizing visual effects, satisfying interactive actions, and popular online services made strange by unconventional use, can be found below.

The gallery hosts an opening reception Saturday, November 1, from 6 – 8 pm.

A conversation between Rafaël Rozendaal and Austin Lee appeared in SFAQ print issue 16. Rozendaal and Lee discuss the flexibilities and practicalities of digital artwork, Rozendaal’s BYOB project, painting, writing haiku, and more.
