Currently on view at Et al., San Francisco is a solo exhibition by Andrew Chapman featuring various works that include, sculpture, painting, collage, and site specific installation.  The exhibition is accompanied by a quote by Vilém Flusser which states “Image contains within it magic; apparatus contains within it automation and play; program contains within it chance and necessity; information contains within it the symbolic and the improbable.”  Chapman in response incorporates works which speak to Flusser’s conversation surrounding the intrinsic qualities and information offered by images as well as challenge the dependency of device and apparatus used for image making, seen mostly within the work “Little Bubby” (2007-2014) on view in his exhibition.
