“I met Justin Van Hoy a few years back through a mutual friend of ours, Kevin E. Taylor. We chatted about art and life and soon found out we were both from the Dirty South and knew a lot of the same people. Justin was truly the Dutch Giant, he was at least a foot and a half taller than me. He was a big advocate of the arts and would stop by my studio and check in on my progress whenever he was in San Francisco. This was his standard routine with artists he had built relationships with over the years. Van Hoy’s enthusiasm was impossible to ignore, he was able to bring together a diverse group of people into a unified vision. We miss you buddy…see you on the other side.”

A group show curated by Justin Van Hoy opens tonight at Guerrero Gallery.

“I have had this show concept on the shelf for quite awhile, but I believe this is the time to present it. I am very interested in exhibiting work from artists all South Carolina connected artists. I have had the pleasure of knowing, working, and learning from all of you in very different ways, some for more than 20 years now. All of you have been invaluable resources of creativity in different ways during different times in my life. I am very excited to corral everyone into a single space.”
