In a bid to create something more than a music video, Icelandic band Sigur Ros commissioned twelve filmmakers to create an entire visual, aural and even sensual element to the new album Valtari. Although all the aesthetics are noteworthy, it is Alma Har’el’s work with Fjögur Píanó that has captured the eyes, ears and hearts of most.

Enlisting Shia LeBeouf and Denna Thompsen as the heart wrenching couple who paint a hybrid portrait of love, intimacy, fragility and insanity through dance, fashion, facial expression and of course music, Har’el touches on a familiarity despite the violent undertones, probably because we have all hurt those we love. . He wraps us up and pulls us into The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment, saying “For me, it’s about not knowing how to get out of something without causing pain to somebody else. For other people it might be about candy and fish. I’m down with that.”  Nothing can explain this piece more clearly; the combination of Har’el and Sigur Ros is, without a doubt, a dazzling piece of art.
