When Spring turns to Fall and Summer to Winter, the butterflies in the Edun campaign  progress and this time emerge as birds of power and wisdom. Edun’s ethos is based around sustainable ecology and growth in Africa and so the native owls are a natural choice in terms of logic but also  ring true to photographer Ryan McGinley’s artistic expression.

There is a recurring theme of freedom in all of his work, whether it be articulated through the nakedness of the subject or the wild animals in the shoot. Beauty , youth, uncertainty, fun and fragility commandeer the piece through the juxtaposition of the wild animals and the models while the energetics and carefree poses of both remind us that we are all young and wild and free. There should be no bonds or barriers in this world.
