Oksana Todorova (OKS)
160 West Broadway, New York, NY 10013
September 21 – November 11, 2016
Now on view at A+E Studios, Toxic Vice is an exhibition of sculptures and drawings by Oksana Todorova (also known as OKS). OKS, born in the USSR and based in New York, presents a number of distinct series of porcelain sculptures, alongside a group of drawings. A number of the works are darkly humorous reproductions and transformations of consumer goods, including a number of porcelain “tea sets” which suggestively mimic the packaging of Mr. Clean, Clorox, and Antifreeze products. Another series focuses on the legend of the vagina dentata, and includes a group of toothed bowls and a display of “denture necklaces”; OKS also presents a group of works inspired by the distinctive imagery of Phillip Guston, a series of porcelain alcohol bottles, and more.
Toxic Vice has been extended to November 11.
