Highlight: Summer One
Hollis Taggart Galleries
521 W. 26th Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001
July 28 – September 2, 2016

Now on view at Hollis Taggart Galleries, Highlight: Summer One is the first in a series of exhibitions curated by art dealer Paul Efstathiou. Highlight: Summer One includes seven artists, each based in either New York or Los Angeles, and each at an arguably pivotal moment in their career as an artist. As the recipients of fellowships and grants, the subjects of major publications, and the participants in significant exhibitions, William Buchina, Elizabeth Cooper, Ted Gahl, John Knuth, Matt Mignanelli, Eric Shaw, and Devin Troy Strother find themselves at the border between being emerging and mid-career artists. The artists included in Highlight: Summer One are painters, and demonstrate a disparate array of approaches to the medium, with Devin Troy Strother employing semi-sculptural collage, Eric Shaw rejuvenating hard-edge painting, John Knuth manipulating biological materials (flyspeck), and more.

SFAQ #23 included an interview with Devin Troy Strother, which is available online.

Eric Shaw will present six new paintings in The Cut (a two-person exhibition with Shaw and Adam Parker Smith), opening September 10 at Ever Gold [Projects].
