Opening at The Popular Workshop, San Francisco is, “PWND”, a solo exhibition of new works by Australian-born Los Angeles based artist, Jonathan Zawada. “PWND”explores the confused, contradictory and combative language in the discourse surrounding privacy, transparency and freedom in virtual environments. Archival inkjet prints, sculpture, video, and interactive works draw upon the visual language of skinning, camouflage and obfuscation to connect the visceral humanist effects that ripple outward from the mixture of masculine teenage angst, puritanical rationalism and militaristic purpose that underpin many of our contemporary digital structures.

This will be the last show at The Popular Workshop’s Sutter Street location. The Popular Workshop is excited for their new chapter and look forward to engaging with the local arts community through offsite curatorial endeavors and various upcoming projects. More details to follow soon.

Opening Reception: November 8th, 6-10pm.
