Tomorrow on June 21st is a public talk with artist Allison Smith at THE THING Quarterly in the Mission District of San Francisco.  Allison will be on hand to talk about her incredible collection of trench art, now on view at THE THING Quarterly. For those who are unfamiliar, Trench art are objects made by soldiers from battlefield debris such as expended bombshells, shrapnel, and other war materials.  Allison’s collection is made up of some 30 artillary shells transformed into flower vases by soldiers during World War I.  Smith will be discussing on her collection, the stories behind them, and what drives her to resurrect these objects into the contemporary cultural landscape of today.  The talk will begin at 6pm.
