Doug Rickard

Doug Rickard at Yossi Milo Gallery, New York

Tonight Doug Rickard will be speaking at the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) about his work and artistic endeavors.  Rickard’s work is heavy constructed from the traditions of American photography masters like Robert Frank, Walker Evans, and Stephen Shore.  Looking through the lens of documentary photography Rickard was able to investigate Google Street View to find his subject matter of individuals in their environment captured by a camera mounted on top of a moving car.  He used this method of image capturing for his recent body of work, “A New American Picture” where he re-photographed and arranged satellite images, amateur snapshots, and commercial and surveillance photographs.

The lecture starts at 7:30 in the lecture hall.  Advance registration for this lecture is recommended.  Visit here for more information.
