Tomorrow is going to be an active evening in the Eastbay.  The Oakland Art Murmur participating galleries will be coordinating with Art Gallery Week in collaboration with Saturday Stroll, an extended dialogue with galleries after OAM’s first friday festivities through artist talks, gallery tours, and more.

Many of the galleries that participate in Oakland’s highly popular Art Murmur gallery scene are extending their First Friday festivities to include Saturday hours, in what is hoped will lure in art enthusiasts who prefer a lower profile scene. The new Saturday Stroll is quieter and more focused on the art in the galleries. It will run every Saturday afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m.

12 – 3pm: Marion and Rose’s Workshop – Meet the Artist: Whitney Smith w/treats provided by All Baked. Whitney Smith creates beautifully functional ceramic pottery, designed and handcrafted to bring exquisite, modern home accessories into your everyday.

  • 12 – 6pm: SLATE contemporary – Holiday Art Sale Part I. Hundreds of works by SLATE gallery artists offered at 20-50% off for two days only, benefitting Oakland School for the Arts’ visual and vocal arts programs.
  • 7pm: Studio Quercus – Stop & Go 3D! Third insallment of the popular animation series, curated by Sarah Klein. Tickets: $10 Advance ticket purchase information at www.studioquercus.com.
  • 2 – 4pm: Guided Walking Tour of Five Oakland Art Murmur Galleries Fiber Foundations Beginning with Judith Scott, led by Stan Peterson of Creative Growth. Meet 2:00 at Farley’s Cafe, 33 Grand Ave, Oakland.
  • 8pm: Studio Quercus – Clowns on a Stick Present To Bury a Cat: A Clown Show A showcase for those masters of funny bone crunching, check pinching shenanigans Clowns on a Stick. A simple show that will offend no one (except perhaps cat lovers) and mesmerize everyone. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 children 6-10. Not recommended for children 5 and under.
